Officials identified the elderly man killed in a two-alarm apartment blaze earlier this month.
Eldred Sweeney, 81, from Altadena, was found deceased and badly burned in the apartment fire that burned inside the Friends Retirement Center, 2691 North Lincoln Avenue, Dec. 9.
The cause of death has been deferred pending further tests, said Lieutenant Joe Bale of the Los Angeles County Coroners Office.
Over 100 firefighters fought the flames, which burned through the attic and roof of the two-story structure. A cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.
