Would be great if you could link this story each week to a Mapquest map or Yahoo map with the crime locations mapped!

Too bad we have such bleeding hearts for criminals in this country! If they cut off a finger for each burglary commited, I am sure thefts/burglaries would go down substantially if not disappear altogether. For a rapist, I'd cut off 4 fingers in each hand in addition to some other part. The missing digits would brand the offenders and everyone would know they commited a crime. You say that sort of punishment is too harsh and constitutes cruel and unusual punishment? No wonder we have revolving door for criminals and so many repeat offenders! The moment you commit a crime, you should lose ALL your Constitutional rights! Death penalty would be even better! Let's get rid of all the riff-raff and low lifes for good! There's no excuse for such behavior.

@joy - That's a good idea. I'll put a location map on next week's blotter.

LA Sheriff's Dept is switching over to the same reporting system as PPD: www.crimemapping.com You can see the location and type of crimes... change date ranges, filter by crime type, etc. Should be up and running for LACS pretty soon...

I also think we should conduct partial brain extractions for making dumb posts. Mari....you can easily find what you seek.....research some countries in the Middle East etc. I believe you'll find your ideal society there. you get what you get when you live in the US....are you diggin' the freedom you have to make your enlightened post? You won't get that in most Mid East countries. Listen, I may not like how light we go on criminals or how many chances criminals get to keep committing crimes, but I also realize that I live in a country that won't/isn't going down that road. If we did, we'd likely lose a lot more a lot more freedoms along the way. Could we crack down on crime more? Sure, but going to the other extreme isn't going to happen. By the way, don't get caught speeding..... I hear we're going to cut off feet for that. If you are saying bad words right now....watch it...out comes the tounge! LOL
