Fire Weather Danger Persists Into Wednesday

From City News Service

A brief period of Red Flag Warnings may be necessary in Los Angeles County today, as Santa Ana winds are likely to blow through, the National Weather Service said Monday.

A high pressure system is forming over Nevada and Utah, forecasters said. That will push surface winds through inland and coastal mountains to the sea.

Hot and dry winds will descend into the coastal plain and valleys by Tuesday morning, according to the latest forecast models.

The low humidities and hot temperatures will elevate fire dangers through Wednesday. The peak 50 mph winds will be common in the Santa Monica Mountains and inland mountains and passes, and may trigger Red Flag Warnings for part of Tuesday, the NWS said.

Winds will diminish Wednesday, according to the forecast.
