Four Home Burglaries in Altadena on Monday

The four homes that were hit are in the same general vicinity and it appears the crimes are likely connected, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Four homes in east Altadena neighborhoods were hit by burglars on Monday, according to Lt. Joe Dempsey of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Altadena Station.

All four were entered by force in the daytime hours, according to Dempsey.

He told Altadena Patch that it appears they were related.

"It seems like [they were related], because they are all pretty close," Dempsey said.

The burglarized home locations are:

  • 2000 Block of  E. Crary Street
  • 1400 Block of Coolidge Avenue
  • 1700 Block of Roosevelt Avenue
  • 2300 Block of Sinaloa Avenue

The department does not have any witnesses or suspect descriptions at this time, Dempsey added.

In some of the cases, residents were not out of the homes for that long when the crime happened - one victim told police he was only gone for about an hour.

There was also a nearby 5th burglary in Pasadena. A Pasadena police information specialist has posted the following update in a local email group: "Just a heads up to let you know that there has been a Residential Burglary at the 2200 Blk. of Woodlyn Rd. This burglary occurred on 8/22/11 between the hours of 1115am - 6:45pm. The probable point of entry was the dog door in the east side of the house. Victim returned home to find the east gate open and the front door open. Once inside the suspect ransacked the residence. One of the victims dogs was locked inside the bathroom by the unknown suspect. Remember, if you have a doggy door at your residence this may be used as a point of entry, by a suspect. No one was seen or heard. Please share this information with your neighbors."
