UPDATED: Human Remains Found in Angeles National Forest

The remains were found near the area of Big Tujunga Canyon road where a "shallow grave" was found earlier this month.

UPDATE: The remains are now in possession of the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

Officials say the condition of the remains has prevented authorities from determining an identity, according to a release from the Sheriff's Department.

A desk lieutenant at the coroner's office told Patch that the investigation is still ongoing, and that results could be available early this week.

Original: Human remains were found Saturday morning in the Angeles National Forest near Big Tujunga Canyon Road, not far from where a "shallow grave" was discovered earlier this month, according to authorities.

Sheriff's detectives and members of the Montrose Search and Rescue team found the remains at mile marker 2.72 while searching the area around the previously discovered grave, which was located at mile marker 2.92.

Detectives were awaiting officials from the county coroner's office to arrive, according to a release from the Sheriff's Department. No other information regarding the remains was available.

Hey Gregg and Lisa, no they haven't "located that missing LC woman." And for those of us who know her family, they and we haven't "forgotten about her." It seems like there is an increase in missing people, and it's heartbreaking for those who love them. Of course, it's hard to remember everyone, but like Denise said, insensitive comments are not helpful.

No, it's not insensitive or tacky. Megan is still missing. It could be her. The question would then be who was the last to see her.
Lisa January 22, 2013 at 06:50 PM
@Marsha: Thank you. My intent was not meant to be insensitive. Denise's reply with exclamation marks made more of a spectacle than anything.

How is my question insensitive & tacky? You make no sense whatsoever.
Marsha January 23, 2013 at 01:18 AM
Not you Gregg-that comment was for Denise, thinking it was insensitive and tacky. It's logical to wonder if it could be Megan. Sorry if you miss understood.
