A tragedy. This child could have been delivered to a hospital without legal ramifications to the mother. This child could have lived a long productive life. Now the mother could face murder charges, or manslaughter charges, and the child is dead. This is no time to make ethnic slurs. This is a time to mourn a life cut short.

In LA County, newborn babies (within 72 hours of birth) can be left with any hospital, police station or paramedics under the Safely Surrendered Baby Law. http://www.babysafela.org/ This is statewide, as well: http://www.dss.cahwnet.gov/Forms/English/pub400L.pdf Many other states have similar laws. The baby might have been stillborn; the autopsy will tell for sure. It also says infant in the story, but not how old. The whole situation changes based on when & how the baby died & how old it was. I'm sorry to hear stuff like this still happens...
