Mail/Package Theft from Altadena Porches

Sheriff's Station requests detailed information from any victims.

Packages delivered by various mail services have been disappearing from Altadena porches. Carolyn Seitz passes along this request and advice from the Sheriff's Station:

Call the Sheriff's Station at 626-798-1131 to report the theft. Provide as much information as possible, including the name of the person or company that sent the package, the name of the delivery company, the expected date of delivery, and, if tracking information is available, the time the package was apparently delivered. Also package contents and cost of merchandise.

To safeguard any deliveries you expect in the future, consider these options:

Have packages delivered to a trusted neighbor who is more likely to be home when the delivery is expected.

Webster's Fine Stationers has been advertising that you can have your packages delivered to their store at no additional cost to you.

Have packages delivered to the nearest UPS store if delivered by United Parcel.

If FedEx is handling the delivery, have packages delivered to the nearest FedEx store for pickup.

If you have a Post Office Box, you can sign an agreement with the US Postal Service to use their street address as your delivery address and your PO Box number as your "suite".  They will notify you when packages for you have been received by the Post Office.

As always, if you are home and see any suspicious activity, call the Sheriff's Station right away.
