Man Shot in Altadena on Tuesday Evening

The shooting, which took place at the intersection of Marengo and Sacramento, was not fatal.

A man was shot in the backside in a gang-related shooting on Tuesday afternoon around 6:30 p.m. according to Lt. Larry Landreth of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Altadena station.

Following the shooting, the victim, who Landreth described as a gang member, took off from the scene, but was located less than a quarter-mile away by deputies.  He added that it looked like it could be retaliation for an earlier attack, but said detectives have not confirmed that for certain.

The shooting took place around the intersection of Sacramento Street and Marengo Avenue and the victim was found at 141 Woodbury Road, he said.

The victim, a black male who gave his birth year as 1972, refused to cooperate with police, Landreth said.

However, an independent witness at the scene has given detectives a description of the car the assailant or assailants were driving, and police are attempting to track them down, he said.

The victim was transported to and treated at a local hospital, Landreth added.

Altadena and Pasadena have been the subject of increased shootings, both fatal and non-fatal, since the .  Detectives are still working on determining which of the shootings may be related.
