No Motive, Suspects Yet in Angeles Crest Murder, Police Say

Los Angeles Sheriff's Department homicide detectives believe gunshot victim Noe Vasquez had no ties to the Crescenta Valley.

Nearly two weeks after a motorist foundon the side of Angeles Crest Highway, authorities have few clues as to what happened.

"This is a very difficult murder. We just don't have that much to go on,'' Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Det. Tim O'Quinn told Patch on Tuesday.

So far, investigators believe Vasquez, a Canoga Park resident, had no ties to the Crescenta Valley. Authorities believe he was in transit, and it was during the commute that an altercation ensued.

A blood trail started in the middle of the road, near mile marker 27, and led 100 feet to the guardrail where Vasquez was found, O'Quinn said. Authorities have no suspects, nor anyone they are looking at ''heavily,'' he said, adding there were no witnesses to the crime.

Vasquez was found just after 5 a.m. on May 10 near a , just three miles north of La Cañada Flintridge. Investigators from Canoga Park believe the Crescenta Valley was not a place he frequented, so authorities haven't posted flyers seeking witnesses in the area.

"We don't know if it was gang related or narcotics related, it just looks like he was in transition somewhere when [Vasquez was shot],'' he said.

If residents know anything about the May 10 murder, O'Quinn asks them to call 323-890-5500, any time of day or night.
