Possible Car Jacking Suspects Crash Car in La Cañada Flintridge

From City News Service

A suspect remained at large today while another was in custody after a stolen vehicle crashed on the northbound Glendale (2) Freeway in La Canada Flintridge.

The crash occurred south of Foothill Boulevard around 10:05 p.m. Tuesday and caused all northbound lanes of the freeway to be closed for about an hour, said California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Rubio.

The vehicle's two occupants ran away after the crash, he said. One was caught by CHP officers around 11 p.m. about half a mile west at Verdugo Boulevard in Glendale. The other suspect remained at large early this morning, Rubio said.

Authorities were trying this morning to determine if the vehicle was connected to a carjacking in Glendale.

Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said the Glendale Police Department received a report of a carjacking with shots fired near the intersection of Broadway and Sinclair Avenue in Glendale around 10 p.m. No one was at the scene when officers arrived, he said.

"We're trying to determine what actually occurred," Lorenz said.
