Pre-Dawn Hiker Airlifted to Hospital on Thursday Morning

A lost hiker at the Cobb Estate was airlifted to the hospital early Thursday morning.

A lost hiker was airlifted from above the Cobb Estate and taken to the hospital early Thursday morning, according to Inspector Tony Imbrenda of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The Fire Department got the call at 2:35 a.m. from the hiker's cell phone, and the department took until 3:30 to locate him.  There were several calls between the parties to help them locate the hiker, according to Imbrenda.

He said he did not have any information on how the hiker became lost, how he was injured, or how long he had been hiking for when he called in.

Rich Deleon of the volunteer Altadena Mountain Rescue Team told Patch he was also called to the Cobb Estate, but shortly after he arrived the team got word that the department helicopter team had picked the hiker up.

Deleon said he was not on scene long enough to learn anything about the hiker or get very far on to the trail.  He did note, however, that shortly after the call was over it was about time for him to go in to work at his day job.
