Teenage Hiker Airlifted from Eaton Canyon With Broken Leg

Another accident at the Eaton Canyon falls

An injured hiker at the first waterfall in Eaton Canyon was airlifted to the Los Angeles County-USC Hospital with a broken leg Monday afternoon, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies.

The call for a injured hiker needing an air evacuation came at around 2:30 p.m., said Sgt. Michael Stuever of the Altadena Sheriff's Station, and the rescue was completed by 3:15 p.m..

The hiker was airlifted by a county Fire Department team.

Stuever did no have the details of how the injury occurred but hikers in the area frequently climb up a steep cliff to access waterfalls and falls and injuries are common there.

Stuever added that there was an additional rescue in the area Sunday night where a hiker with minor injuries was walked out by a search and rescue team and treated on the spot by paramedics.
