Sheriff's Department to Make Up With Neighborhood Association Group

The Pasadena Star-News reports that the department will resume involvement with the Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations, reversing the decision to boycott the group as long as a teen with a police record was volunteering for the group.

Officers from the will resume working with the Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (ACONA) despite the presence of a teen with a police record at ACONA meetings, according to a report in the Pasadena Star-News.

After the department declined an invitation to last month's meeting, until a teenage volunteer with a juvenile police record stopped coming to the meetings.

Capt. Steve McLean, of the Altadena station, told the Star-News that the department might take some precautions with what kind of information they would be willing to share in front of Kendall Brown, the teen volunteer.

As originally reported on the Altadenablog, Brown was arrested following a November meeting, though charges were eventually dropped.

While nobody from the department was present at the January meeting, there were several residents there who discussed a concerns over deputy response time and behavior during a shooting incident in November.  The neighbors told Patch at the time they had hoped officers would show up to discuss the issue.

The next ACONA meeting is on March 27, but topics for the meeting have not yet been announced.
