Sheriff's Detective: Altadena, Pasadena Shootings Not Related

A drive-by shooting in Altadena earlier this month does not appear to be related to recent shootings in Pasadena, a sheriff's official said.

A sheriff's detective said Wednesday that a shooting in Altadena that wounded two men earlier this month does not appear to be related to recent shootings in Pasadena.

The drive-by shooting on Altadena Drive on Oct. 20 appears to have something to do with a party in the 80 block of West Altadena Drive that the victims had left shortly before the shooting occurred, Altadena Sheriff's Lt. Eric Lasko said.

"It appears that they were walking along Altadena Drive after they had been to a party and we’re looking at the possibility that something occurred at that party," Lasko said.

The two male victims, a 25-year-old and 27-year-old, were standing on the sidewalk in the 100 block of West Altadena Drive Five when a car pulled up and someone fired five to seven shots. The two men were each hit, one in the leg and one in the neck.

The party was not at the home some residents have described as a problem house in the neighborhood but one of the victims did live at that house at one time, Lasko said.

Lasko said the shooting did not appear to be related to either of the two recent shootings in Pasadena. In the most recent of those shootings, witnesses said they saw people firing at a moving vehicle Tuesday night near Sunset Avenue and Washington Avenue. A man who was shot in the hand later turned up in a local hospital but declined to cooperate with police.

The only suspect description sheriff's investigators have for the Altadena drive-by is that the car involved was teal in color, Lasko said. He said the shooting does not appear to be gang related.
