Updated: Suspect in Altadena Shooting Arrested

Sheriff's Deputies located and arrested suspect without incident.

Updated:  Patrol deputies working in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Ventura Street have arrested the suspect in yesterday's shooting. According to a release from the Sheriff's Department, the deputies made contact with the suspect, Kanan Traub, and he was arrested without incident.

Original: Sheriff's investigators are searching for an 18-year-old male who vanished after witnesses said he was involved in a shooting in Altadena Tuesday.

Deputies surrounded a home near Lincoln Avenue and Mariposa Street where they believed an Altadena man had barricaded himself following a shooting in the area Tuesday afternoon.

After several hours passed in the presumed standoff, investigators sent in a camera-equipped robot and discovered that the suspect was not at the location.

Detectives are now asking the public for help in finding the suspect, who was identified as Kanan Traub of Altadena, Lt. Eric Lasko of the Altadena Sheriff's Station told Patch Wednesday.

Traub is described as a white male standing 5-foot-11-inches tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a criminal record and investigators are trying to determine if he is a member of a local gang, Lasko said.

A photo of Traub was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon but Lasko said one would hopefully be released to the public by the end of the day.

No victims have been identified in the shooting, Lasko said.

"We haven't confirmed that someone's been shot, we've confirmed that someone was shot at," he said. "No one has come forward with any gunshot wounds."
