Some Altadena Crimes See Dramatic Drop From 2012

Other crimes see a sharp rise, officials reported.

Here's a look into crime statistics from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as of Nov. 8:

Violent Crimes
Overall, violent crimes have sharply decreased from this time 2012, from 92 reported incidents to 63 reported year-to-date incidents in 2013.

Further refining violent crimes, criminal homicides saw a steady decrease over 5 years, from three reported in 2008, two reported in 2012 and one reported so far in 2013.

Forcible rape cases, however, doubled since 2008, from five to 10 reported incidents.

Robberies saw a dramatic decrease since 2008, from 35 incidents to nine so far in 2013.

Aggravated assaults also saw a steep decrease, with 102 reported incidents in 2008, 64 in 2012 and 43 reported incidents in 2013.

Property Crimes
Property crimes saw an increase from 2012 overall, with 549 year-to-date incidents in 2012 and 586 so far in 2013.

Burglaries decreased slightly. In both 2008 and 2012, 189 incidents were reported, with 179 incidents reported so far in 2013.

Larceny thefts increased in 2013, from 314 in 2012 to 355 so far this year.

Grand theft auto incidents saw a slight increase, from 42 in 2012 to 50 in 2013.

Arson incidents decreased as well, from four reported incidents in both 2008 and 2012 to two cases so far in 2013.
