Wasson and the others filed with the state Fair Political Practices Commission.  They argue that Rucker should recuse herself from voting on a proposed reform labeled as the "parent trigger" law, which an Associated Press article on the subject describes as allowing parents demand "radical reforms at failing schools through a petition."

According to the same article, the CTA has opposed the "parent trigger" law and those who filed the complaint are concerned that she cannot take an unbiased stance on the proposed reform.
