Starting on October 1, Kaiser Permanente and several local congressional representatives have organized a collection drive for local victims of domestic violence. The event coincides with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which takes place in October.
Organizers are asking for slightly worn garments for women and children, household cleaning products, school supplies and even used cell phones, all of which will be donated to domestic violence survivors in shelters throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
Rep. Judy Chu, D-Pasadena, who represents Altadena, and Rep Grace Napolitano, D-El Monte, spoke Monday about the importance of supporting domestic violence survivors.
The closest collection site to Altadena is the Kaiser facilities at 1011 Baldwin Park Blvd. Donations can also be made at the following Kaiser sites:
- Diamond Bar Medical Offices, 1336 Bridge Gate Drive, Diamond Bar
- Montebello Medical Offices, 1550 Town Center Drive, Montebello
- San Dimas Medical Offices, 1255 West Arrow Highway, San Dimas
- West Covina Medical Offices, 1249 S. Sunset Avenue, West Covina
