County Plans 208 Trees to be Planted in Altadena by April

The county plans to complete tree planting from a grant from the county to replace trees damaged in last year's windstorms by April 2013.

The county is planning to plant 208 trees using a $100,000 of a $200,000 grant that went to cities county-wide to replace trees damaged in last year's windstorms.

The plan is to complete the work by April of 2013, according to Michael Kaspar of the County Public Works Department.   The work should start within two months.

The county announced a total of $1.9 million in grants for cities in the San Gabriel Valley this week.

The grant is the same plan that was discussed at the August Town Council meeting.  Additionally, Tim Rutt at the Altadenablog posted a map in July showing that the county plan shows more trees planned for planting East of Lake Avenue than West.

Kaspar told Patch his understanding is that there are "a little more" trees planned for East of Lake than West.  He said he was uncertain if the plan has been updated over the last few months or not.

Kaspar said he would attempt to provide a map of the current plan for where to plant trees or provide a list of streets.  We will post that information if we receive it.
