Loma Alta Farmers' Market to be Discussed at Tuesday Town Council Meeting

Those who wish to weigh in on the proposal to have a farmer's market at Loma Alta can do so at the meeting.

The Altadena Town Council will discuss a proposal for a farmer's market at Alta Park at its Tuesday meeting.

The presentation will be given by a County Parks and Recreation Department official, who has been working on getting the market together since the Town Council to request that the county do so.

The proposal to put a farmer's market in an Altadena park has been under consideration for months with as the original target.

After there were some complaints by area neighbors, county officials redirected their attention to Loma Alta.

Last month, the Town Council with the proposal despite the introduction of a new market at Sacred Heart Church.  That market closed shortly thereafter as they did not want to compete with that market (and also were concerned about the low traffic at the market).

So far officials have not announced which day or what time the market would be held at.

County officials have said that the new market could start as soon as March, so Tuesday's meeting could be the last time for public members to weigh in on the proposal.   The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the .
