Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Preview

Small look at the Nov. 5 meeting.

1. Recommendation as submitted by Supervisors Knabe and Ridley-Thomas: Instruct the Chief Executive Officer to report back on the following as it relates to LA n Sync, an initiative that leverages the unique diversity of the Los Angeles County region for major Federal and National philanthropic funding opportunities: (Continued from meeting of 10-29-13).

2. Recommendation as submitted by Supervisors Ridley-Thomas and Molina: Create a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Oversight Commission. One member shall be appointed by each Supervisor by October 15, 2013 (Continued from meetings of 9-17-13 and 10-8-13).

3. Recommendation: Acting as the Governing Body of the Consolidated Fire Protection District (District), approve and instruct the Chairman to sign a contract between the District and Rotorcraft Support, Inc., in an amount up to $600,000 per year for a total of $1,800,000 for the first three years, for helicopter maintenance and repair services for the District’s fleet of six Bell 412 helicopters, effective upon Board approval, with two one-year extensions, and 12 month-to-month extensions, not to exceed a total possible contract term of six years; authorize expenditures for two additional one-year periods and 12 additional month-to-month extensions at the same annual amount of $600,000, to include a Cost of Living Adjustment request for a multi-year service contract; also authorize the Fire Chief to exercise the contract extensions, amend, suspend, and/or terminate the contract, if deemed necessary, in accordance with the approved contract terms and conditions; and find that the contract is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act. (Fire Department) APPROVE (13-5064).

4. Report by the Chief Executive Officer on a marketing plan to effectively communicate the positive system changes resulting from The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, such as community outreach events and programs, including the required funding, as requested by the Board at the meeting of October 8, 2013, under Agenda Item No. 93-A. APPROVE (Continued from meeting of 10-22-13).
