Proposed Assembly District Combines Altadena, South Pasadena, Monrovia

The state's redistricting commission has released a new concept for Altadena's Assembly District that groups it with Monrovia and South Pasadena while removing La Cañada Flintridge and some foothill areas to the west.

The has released some new conceptual districts that include an Assembly District for Altadena that groups it with neighbors Pasadena and South Pasadena.

The district, which can be viewed on right, still includes many of the other foothill cities to the east that were in the .  But the June 10 proposal separated Altadena and its two neighboring cities directly to the south.

The new proposal is a little more similar to the current district; both include Altadena, Pasadena, South Pasadena, Monrovia.

However, the current district also includes cities further south like Highland Park, Temple City, whereas the new proposal lumps Altadena, Pasadena, and South Pasadena with the foothill cities to the east.

Since the June 10 release, the commission has also looked at a for Altadena.

Whether the commission adopts a district that looks more like the latest proposal, the June 10 proposal or something else entirely is still up in the air. The  have already passed, but residents can still submit an official comment on the proposals online. The final districts will be released in August.
