New Captain Selected for Altadena Sheriff's Station

Lt. John Benedict will be the next head of the Altadena Sheriff's Station.

A new captain has been selected to head the Altadena Sheriff's Station, according to Lt. Duane Allen, the public information officer at the station.

The news was first reported this morning at the Altadenablog that Lt. John Benedict will be the next top officer at the station.  Tim Rutt, of the Altadenablog, has some more details on Benedict's background listed in his story.

Allen said that while he has not worked with Benedict, he has met him.  He described Benedict as a "great guy" and said deputies at the station seem to be happy with the selection.

Current Capt. Steve McLean's last official day at the station is March 31, Allen said, and so it appears Benedict will take over April 1.  He said he expects Benedict will likely be at the station next week working on the transition with McLean.

An official announcement has not yet been made, but Allen said he believes that Benedict will be introduced to the media and other interested community members at some point next week.
