PUSD and Pasadena City Council Candidates Forum Thursday

ACT political organization is hosting the forum at Pasadena City College.

Those interested in finding out more about candidates running for the Pasadena Unified School District and Pasadena City Council are welcome to a free public forum at Pasadena City College Thursday.

ACT, the oldest and largest progressive political organization in the San Gabriel Valley, is hosting the forum in cooperation with Andrew Bott, Vice President for Business Affairs of the Associated Students of PCC, according to a release.

Former Sierra Madre mayor John Buchanan will moderate the forum, which will be filmed by the Pasadena Community Network for rebroadcast over the following weeks.

The forum begins at 7 p.m. at PCC’s Creveling Lounge, Building CC (1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena).

Pasadena City Council candidates that will attend are:

District 3

Ishmael Trone, Businessman/Financial Consultant

John J. Kennedy, Senior VP Nonprofit

Nicholas Benson, Minister/Educator

 

District 5

Victor M. Gordo, Councilmember/Attorney

Israel Estrada, Nonprofit Executive Director

(Terry Tornek, the incumbent City Councilmember in District 7, is running unopposed, so he will not be speaking at the forum.)

 

Attending PUSD school board candidates in the newly re-drawn districts are:

District 1 (Represents majority of Altadena)

Kimberly Kenne, PUSD School Board Member

Dean Cooper Information Technology Consultant

Guillermo Arce, Human Services Administrator

Tyron Hampton, Project Manager

Ruben Hueso, Public School Educator

Deirdra Duncan, Foster Parent

 

District 5

Elizabeth Pomeroy, PUSD School Board Member

Stella Murga Director, Youth Center

 

District 7

Scott Phelps, PUSD Board of Education

Luis Carlos Ayala, Attorney/Educator
