Patch PUSD School Board Election Guide

Here's the info you need to know for today's election.

Today is election day for local school board elections, and Altadena residents who want a say in who sets policies for their children should get out there and vote.

For those who have not studied up on the election, the issues, and the candidates here it our guide.

Bear in mind that today is technically the primary election for school board candidates, so in any race where a candidate does not get at least 50 percent of the vote, there will be a run-off election next month with the two highest vote getters.  As there is one seat with three candidates, there is a good possibility of that happening.

If you haven't been paying attention, here is some vital information for the election.

At Altadena Patch, we've done short profiles of all the challengers in this year's elections.

We have not profiled incumbents Tom Selinske and Renatta Cooper, who are well known to many in the community. In addition, until a late write-in challenger filed to run against Cooper, she was running unopposed.

On the most recent major PUSD issue, the vote on closing two Altadena schools, Selinske was in favor, while Cooper was against.
