Rain, Wind and Road Closures Tuesday

The National Weather Service expects rain, wind and possibly hail to hit the region Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook Monday and warned that rain, wind and possibly hail could hit the region Tuesday as a cold stormfront moves in.

The inclement weather is expected to last through Wednesday and NWS predicts that scattered thunderstorms could produce small hail in addition to the 80 percent chance of rain forecast for Tuesday.

The Los Angeles County Public Works Department website showed a closure on Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to Angeles Crest Highway, effective Tuesday, due to weather conditions.

Additional closures include Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Vogel Flats and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Angeles Crest Highway.

"Local access will not be permitted until the road closures are lifted,'' said Sgt. Burton Brink of the Crescenta Valley sheriff's station. "The closures will remain in effect until the storm system has passed and the roads have been inspected."

Here's the 2-day forecast for Altadena from NWS:

  • Tuesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 51. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
  • Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4am. Low around 42. South southwest wind around 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
  • Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Northwest wind around 15 mph.
  • Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. North wind 10 to 15 mph.

But as with any major revamp, after the foreign feel to navigating, usually the new way feels comfortable eventually. I am not sure either way yet.
