Sierra Madre Bus Hours Cut, Will No Longer Go to Gold Line Station

The Sierra Madre City Council has made adjustments to the city's bus line and dial-a-ride program.

Sierra Madre's bus service will have reduced hours and will no longer stop at the Sierra Madre Villa Gold Line Station starting in November, according to a press release sent out the city.

Sierra Madre's "Round-A-Bout" bus route, which currently operates from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. will be cut to only operating between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m, according to the release.  A commuter loop that runs between 7 and 8:34 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 6:34 p.m. will also be eliminated, according to a city staff report.

The new route will go on a loop with the city and will no longer go down to the Gold Line station as the current route, pictured on right, shows.

However, the new bus route will also be free to all users rather than the current $2 per ride for adults and $1 for children and seniors.

The city will also adjust senior citizen's Dial-A-Ride services will be adjusted to operate Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00am-11:00am and 2:00pm-6:00pm. There will be no services provided on Saturday or Sunday. Fares for the Dial-A-Ride service will remain the same at a rate of $2 per one way trip.

The changes to public transportation were voted in at the October 9 City Council meeting, according to the release.
