Town Council to Discuss PUSD Redistricting, Farmers' Market

A preview of Tuesday's Altadena Town Council meeting.

The Altadena Town Council will discuss making appointments to a Pasadena Unified task force that will develop a plan to move from at-large election districts to geographic sub-districts on Tuesday night, and will also get an update on the plan to put a farmers' market at Loma Alta Park.

School district officials are looking into moving from the current at-large election districts where everybody votes for every board member to a vote for their one member.

That could mean that Altadena voters could be divided into separate districts without constituting a majority in any one district, by Altadena Town Council chair Gino Sund at last month's Town Council meeting.

The Town Council is currently looking into who should represent Altadena in the upcoming redistricting process.  They will make recommendations to County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, who will be selecting the representatives to a commission that will come up with a redistricting proposal for PUSD voters to vote on in June of 2012.

As for the farmers' market, county officials told Patch last week that the original plan of launching the market on April 24 after the vendor contracted to hold the market injured his back.  At Tuesday's meeting, the county will update the Town Council on the market's status.
