Traffic Issues and Fire Safety on ACONA Agenda

Altadena traffic issues and preparing for Santa Ana winds are two topics that will be discussed at the Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations meeting on Nov. 27.

Traffic issues comprise two of three agenda items for the Nov. 27 Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (ACONA) meeting.

The first item generally refers to traffic issues in Altadena, while the second discussion item on the agenda involves Highway Patrol in relation to Altadena traffic issues.

A California Highway Patrol officer shared at this month’s Altadena Town Council meeting that traffic collisions have increased so far this year compared to last year.

Fire safety will also be discussed in anticipation of Santa Ana winds.

See five safety tips from National Fire Prevention Week here.

The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Altadena Library on Tuesday Nov. 27.

Below is the full agenda:

  1. Traffic- Traffic issues in Altadena
  2. Highway Patrol- Issues related to traffic in Altadena
  3. Fire Safety- With the Santa Ana winds about to come about, we will have someone come out and "prepare" us.

Speeding is out of control in Altadena. The reduction to a single lane in each direction on North Lake Avenue has not minimized speeding in any way. It's like a speedway beginning at 6:30am every morning, and it doesn't end until after 10pm at night. And all this, just 2 blocks from the sheriff's department. And forget 25mph on side streets. Who's enforcing the speed limits in Altadena? NO ONE, and every driver knows it.

I would love to see how many speeding tickets have been given this year, on residential streets.
