Tuesday Night Palm Street School Meeting is On

The Altadena Town Council Land Use Committee will keep its regular meeting Tuesday night, which will include a new hearing on the proposed Palm Street School.

The Altadena Town Council Land Use Committee will not cancel its regular meeting Tuesday night, according to Greg Middleton of the Town Council.

On tonight's agenda there is a hearing scheduled on the proposed private high school at Palm Street, which is being advanced by the Arroyo Pacific Academy in Arcadia, which wants to open a second campus at 183-205 Palm Street.

The proposed school, which is opposed by many neighbors in the area, has already received a Land Use Committee hearing and a Town Council hearing in September, and at both hearings, committee and Town Council members voted against recommending the project.  The County Regional Planning Commission will ultimately decide whether to grant a permit to the project.

Since those hearings, the project has been modified to try to accomodate its critics, according to Philip Clarke, the head of the Arroyo Pacific Academy.
