Weather Prompts Road Closures in Angeles National Forest

Chains are required for areas 7,000 feet and above, according to Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.

Isolated rain and snow showers are prompting several road closures and delays in Angeles National Forest, officials announced Sunday.

Mt. Wilson Road is closed due to extreme weather conditions, according to Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.

The National Weather Service reports Sunday night will be partly cloudy with isolated rain and snow showers. Snow levels are predicted at areas at 3,000 to 3,500 feet. Lows are expected from the 30s to lower 40s at low elevations.

Areas along Table Mountain Road and Big Pines Highway will have delayed to limited access, authorities said. Chains are required, especially for areas 7,000 feet and above.

A wind advisory is in effect until noon Monday, according to the NWS.

Got caught in an unexpected hailstorm and snow shower up near Barley Flats Sunday afternoon and it made driving back down very tricky. Quite a few cars and bikes had to pull over and wait for snow plows heading up from La Canada. The thick snow quickly covered the road all the way down to Switzer's, after which it turned to rain.
