Weekend Altadena Bus Line Service to be Cut

Bus line 485, which runs from Altadena to Cal State L.A. and downtown Los Angeles via Pasadena, is one of several that will be cut back effective June 26.

A bus line that links Altadena to the Gold Line, central Pasadena, Cal State University of Los Angeles and downtown L.A. is one the list of routes in the county that are slated to be cut back or fully reduced effective June 26.

Bus line 485 starts at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Fontanet Way and ends in downtown Los Angeles.

The line will no longer run on weekends and will run only every 40 minutes during peak times on week days.  The intervals between buses used to be as little as 20 minutes during some day time hours, according to Metro schedules.

The line will also now stop running at 9 p.m, though a new night service on bus line 180 will provide a way for Altadena residents to get as far as the Lake Avenue Gold Line station.

The service cutbacks could have been worse for the 485; as , the line was listed as one that could be completely eliminated, though Metro planners had suggested that there would be some sort of replacement line that would substitute for parts of that route.

Metro officials at the time told Altadena Patch that eliminating it would have added about 30 minutes to the commute for anyone trying to get between Cal State L.A. and Altadena.
