What is on Altadenans' Ballot this Election Day?

The answer is either nothing or not very much, depending where in the city you live.

Tuesday is Election Day, but for Altadena, there is not much of a reason to show up to the polls: there are no national or state contests, no Board of Supervisors election, and no Pasadena Unified board election.

The Altadena Library board was slated to have an election on Tuesday, but because nobody filed final papers to run against the incumbents in the race, .

So if you show up at a polling place on Tuesday is there anything to vote on? It depends where you live in Altadena.

While West Altadena has no races or measures on the ballot on Tuesday, voters east of Lake Avenue have a single race on the ballot to vote on: the Pasadena City College District 2 board seat.

The board provides oversight of Pasadena City College, handling budget and educational policy issues.  The representative of District 2 for the last 28 years has been Jeanette Mann, who also serves on the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board and has worked at various local non-profits and academic positions in Southern California.

Challenging her is an Altadena resident who ran unsuccessfully as a Republican for a local Assembly seat in 2008, Brian Fuller.

The race got interested this week as Fuller filed an official complaint with county prosecutors alleging that Mann's adult son may gave illegally voted in local elections despite living in Canada for the last two decades.

Those allegations were examined by the Pasadena Star-News, which provided proof that Mann's son had voted in at least 21 elections since 1992, including some in which local races were on the ballot.

To this point, the county district attorney's office has not opened an investigation, according to the Star-News.
