Altadena Historical Society's Digitized Historical Photos and Auction on Monday

The Altadena Historical Society is hosting a presentation of its newly-digitized collection of historical images.

The presentation will focus on various points of Altadena history and will include colorful local characters such as Zane Gray and the sons of famous abolitionist John Brown,

Historical society volunteer Marc Striegel, an Altadena resident, business owner and consultant, will also explain methods that are used to scan, name, label, describe and caption photos, and demonstrate how researchers use the software.

There will also be a silent auction of about 80 historical items such as old news clippings, pamphlets and other printed material, some of which are pictured on right.
