Southern California Public Radio will host the Pasadena Sun for an election forum Wednesday, May 9, featuring the five candidates running for the 41st Assembly District on the June 5 ballot. The event will also feature a panel of experts on Pasadena’s Measure A.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held at KPCC’s Crawford Family Forum, 474 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena. The Measure A discussion will take place from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The Assembly candidate forum will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Both panels will be moderated by members of the Pasadena Sun newsroom staff.

The newly-drawn 41st Assembly District includes Pasadena, South Pasadena, Altadena, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, San Dimas, LaVerne, Claremont and Upland. All five Assembly candidates have agreed to attend. They are: South Pasadena Mayor Michael Cacciotti (D), Pasadena attorney Edward Colton (R), Pasadena City Councilman Chris Holden (D), Claremont Tea Party activist Donna Lowe (R) and Pasadena businesswoman Victoria Rusnak (D).

Pasadena’s Measure A, if passed, would create geographic voting districts for the seven seats on the Pasadena Board of Education. The panel for the Measure A discussion includes: Ken Chawkins, chair of the Pasadena Unified School District Districting Task Force; Stella Murga, executive director of the Pasadena Youth Center and a Measure A supporter; and William Bibbiani, a former Pasadena Board of Educaton member and an opponent of Measure A.

Members of the audience will be invited to submit written questions for the speakers. To RSVP, visit www.kpcc.org/forum. For more information, call the Pasadena Sun at (818) 495-4016.
