Arcadia Wears Down Muir

Apache football team wins Pacific League opener 42-7 over Mustangs.

Early on it looked like field possession would be a determining factor when the visited Muir in the Pacific League opener.

But that did not last long as the floodgates opened in the second half and the Apaches ran away with a 42-7 victory.

“The defense did a good job of locking them down and not letting them score,” Arcadia coach Jon Dimalante said of his team. “Our defensive line was brilliant, our young linebackers did real well and the secondary was solid.”

Arcadia (3-1) outscored the Mustangs 28-0 in the second half, with 21 of those points coming in the third quarter to virtually put the game out of reach for the Mustangs entering the fourth quarter, as Arcadia led 35-7.

“We didn’t get all of our assignments down tonight,” said Muir interim head coach David Mitchell. “We’ve got to get back to the drawing board. It is that simple.”
