The community is invited to attend the Brandon Jackson Scholarship Basketball Shootout

Saturday, August 13, 2011, Loma Alta Park Altadena, California from 8am to 8pm  

First Presbyterian Church along with members of the Altadena and Pasadena community will host the first annual Brandon Jackson Scholarship Basketball Shootout on Saturday at Loma Alta Park. Boys and Girls Basketball teams from various area high schools along with community teams will play all day in this event to honor the life of Brandon Jackson and help raise money for college scholarships to enable deserving young people in our community.

This event commemorates the life of Brandon Jackson, a John Muir High School student murdered in February 2011. Although Brandon’s life was cut short, he exhibited tremendous enthusiasm, team spirit, and a rich heritage of love toward many who considered him a friend. He also made a strong commitment to his academic work and was moving toward college before his death. In the spirit of his life we want to encourage young leaders to accomplish the goals and dreams that Brandon held as important.

The Brandon Jackson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to two deserving, college-bound students in August 2011. The final amount of each scholarship will be determined by funds raised in the Brandon Jackson Memorial Basketball Shootout.
