George Halas and Patty Driscoll, stars of the Great Lakes Navy team in the 1919 Rose Bowl Game, and Neil Snow, who scored five touchdowns for Michigan in the inaugural 1902 Rose Bowl Game, were announced Monday as finalists from the 1900s and 1910s for the Rose Bowl Game All-Century Class.

Halas, best known as the longtime coach and owner of the Chicago Bears, was named as the Player of the Game for the 1919 Rose Bowl when he helped lead the Great Lakes Navy team to a 17-0 victory over the Mare Island Marines, when service teams played in the game because college football teams were depleted due to World War I.

Halas caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Driscoll and returned an interception 77 yards to the Mare Island 3-yard line.

Driscoll completed four of eight passes for 77 yards, returned nine punts for 115 yards, punted six times for an average of 43.3 yards and drop- kicked a field goal from the 30-yard line.

Snow, a running back for Michigan, scored the first touchdown in Rose Bowl Game history. He scored four more in the Wolverines' 49-0 victory over Stanford in a game it conceded with minutes to play. His 25 points when a touchdown was worth five points gave him a Rose Bowl scoring record that still stands.

A set of players and coaches representing each decade will be announced each Sunday throughout the remainder of college football's regular season in connection with the 100th Rose Bowl Game.

One representative from each decade will be selected for the All-Century Class, which will be announced Dec. 8, along with one player and one coach selected as the greatest in the history of college football's oldest bowl game.

The 1900s and 1910s were combined into one decade for selection purposes because there were no Rose Bowl Games played following the inaugural 1902 game until 1916.
