Muir Falls At St. Francis

Justin Knowles' 20 points are not enough to overcome Golden Knights

The Muir boys basketball team rallied back from a 10-point deficit in the first half against St. Francis on Saturday night, but the Mustangs didn't have the horses to comeback from a second big deficit and lost 65-51.

After falling behind 21-13 after one quarter, Muir clamped down on defense and outscored the Golden Knights 16-8 in the second period to go into the half tied at 29. But whatever worked for the Mustangs (1-1) on the defensive end during that comeback did not prove as effective during the second half.

St. Francis scored 36 points after halftime as Zack Gardea went on to finish with a game-high 31 points.
