Muir Impresses During First Day of Claremont Passing Tournament
Mustangs go 3-1 in pool play to advance to Saturday's tournament bracket.
Muir enjoyed a banner first day in the Claremont Passing Tournament, finishing first in its pool with a 3-1 record.
Things started off slow for the Mustangs, as they lost in overtime to Chino Hills after Josh Washington threw an interception which resulted in two points. Immediately after their first bout everything turned around.
The Mustang defense snagged three interceptions and routed Esperanza 46-12, and later picked up wins over Southeast and Silverado to wrap up the top spot in their pool. All this was done without their star player Kevon Seymour.

“Everything is starting to click now after Wednesday when we played Charter Oak,” Mustangs head coach Ken Howard said. “When we came in against the Chargers, we were basically preparing for the tournament. At the end of the day we are excited about how our offense has been executing and our defense is staying on their assignments.”
Muir will participate in the bracket rounds Saturday morning at 10 a.m., where each team is guaranteed at least two games regardless if they lose in the first round.
