Charles White Park

Flag as Inappropriate

This five-acre park on Mountain View Street was named for local artist Charles White in 1980. White was a nationally famous African-American artist who served as Chairman of the Drawing Department at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles in the 1960s and 1970s. He actively supported and exhibited his work at many of the outdoor art festivals, gaining credibility and community recognition for many of the African-American artists of the Altadena area.

The park has eight oak and 60 shade trees, and features a multi-purpose sports field, fitness zone and walking path that circles the park. There are good views of the mountains, and picnic areas with barbecues.

The park is the furthest south in Altadena and in an area surrounded by homes. It gets very busy on weekends.
