The people and ambience are great and the salsas are delicious! However, the food is not good. This is disappointing. All this place needs is authentic Mexican homestyle cooking and the place would be greatly improved. The tacos are not authentically Mexican and are lack sabor (flavor). They greasy/oily, the carne asada is not authentic and has little flavor; it is made from a cheap cut of meat instead of the authenic ranchera cut. The iceberg lettuce is yucky, too. Shredded cabbage would be better. And, the pinto beans are watered down and the rice too salty. Please get some recipes from your Mexican grandma and I'll be there every week.

The food here is just not very good. They should hire a good cook.
Mota's on Lincoln has great, inexpensive Mexican food.
I finally tried this restaurant after driving past it many times. The chicken tamale did not taste like a tamale, more like a folded soft taco. The taste was OK, can't complain too much about it. My spouse liked the lengua enchiladas and shrimp enchiladas. I'll make the drive to Mijares for that special type of Mexican food that I have grown used to. It is hard to find a good tamale these days.
Great food. Nice people. Conveniently located for those of us on the hill
How wonderful to finally have an affordable thriving restaurant at this location! The food is very authentic and the service is prompt and friendly. My favorites are the 99 cent tacos (lengua is superb), chile relleno and the chicken tamale with green sauce is excellent. My family goes there often, I can't wait to try the Chile Colorado the next time!

I love it! I was surprised, being vegetarian, that I could have good food the way I want it! It doesn't matter how busy they are (and they ARE busy!), the servers are ALWAYS friendly, smiling and accommodating. Their sign says open from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m yet, if people want to eat, they'll stay open as long as necessary. Revvell (or whatever my real name is)
