The California Highway Patrol is responsible for policing California freeways, and officers from the Altadena CHP…More office routinely respond to traffic accidents and crime scenes in the Altadena area.
The office is part of the CHP's Southern Division, which serves on the freeways of Los Angeles County, as well as in the 64 unincorporated communities throughout the county.
The Altadena station has 55 field officers, and has primary jurisdiction over sections of the 210, 5, 2, 118, and 134 freeways, and over unincorporated sections of the county, including parts of Altadena and the Angeles National Forest.
The station was opened in 1986. Services at the station include a free inspection of child seat installation, and a driving program for teenagers.
