The Pasadena Unified School District enrolls more than 19,000 children from Pasadena, Altadena and Sierra…More Madre. It has 29 schools and three charter schools under its jurisdiction. It employs more than 1,000 teachers. The school system is represented by a locally elected school board and has several elementary and middle schools in Altadena, but high school students all attend school in Pasadena. The school board usually meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.</p> <p>The district headquarters are scheduled to be relocated from the facility at Hudson sometime in 2011.</p>

It relocated to Altadena in 2006, to the site of the closed-down Linda Vista Elementary School.</p> <p>Odyssey serves an ethnically and socio-economically diverse community including African American (40%), Caucasian (27%), Latino (23%), Asian (6%), Other (4%). An estimated 33% of its students are economically disadvantaged families; 10% receive special education services. Approximately 68% of its students come from the Pasadena Unified School District.</p>
