Farnsworth Park hosts a community center, outdoor amphitheater, picnic areas and various recreational facilities, as…More well as annual holidays events and summer evening concerts. The space for the park was set aside in 1921 and the stone community building was completed in 1934 as part of a depression-era public works project. The design of the building shows the influence of the naturalistic trend of the California arts and crafts period and the handmade, careful construction of local artisans.
It is located on the steep hill at the top of Lake Avenue, and the park is spread across the hill, with the community center and amphitheater up top and the sports fields and tennis courts lower down. The park is named for General Charles S. Farnsworth, a local resident who pushed for the area to be used as a park. It originally served as a nursery for trees and vegetation.
