I had some trouble too, but got it figured out. First, log in to Patch Places ( menu button >>> Login ). Once I got logged in, I went to the Patch Places menu by touching the logo in the upper left hand corner and clicking on "Find a patch". At Christmas time, we trot out delicacies from all parts of the globe, even Norway (no fish were harmed in the making of this dish).
Most people who collect recipes have a particular goal in mind--namely, cooking. Not me; I’m what you might call a purist. I collect recipes just for the vicarious pleasure of following along--imagining a house filled with savory deliciousness. If the recipe has pictures, so much the better. I don’t carry the cooking gene--the baking, boiling, broiling, frying and grilling gene--just the reading gene. Apparently the cooking gene skips a generation, because my mother was a master chef. And I have some of my mom’s recipes, most of which came from the old country, some recorded in an ancient Kokebok. Norway may not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of gastronomical delights. The blame for this probably rests on Lutefisk…

Holiday Volunter Opportunities in Altadena
Community volunteer Carolyn Seitz has a list of dates of local food and toy drives where volunteers are needed.
Community volunteer Carolyn Seitz has the following information on toy and food drive volunteer opportunities: Saturday, December 10th From 7:30 am to Noon or 1 or whenever we finish, we will be at the Community Center sorting toys and bagging them for each family we hope to serve and packing food boxes. When we're done, everything has to be packed back into the storage Pods. The briefing of the team and assignment of tasks will begin at 7:30. From 9 am to 10 am - the President Streets area will hold its 3rd Annual Food & Toy Drive at N Harding. You can drive by and drop off food and toy donations - all will be gratefully accepted. An event volunteer tells Patch that the group is now planning to hold the lighting event, as planned.
Second Update: Volunteer Linda Lane-White has conveyed in the comment section that the event is now going to go as planned. Updated: Volunteer Linda Lane-White has some more updates on how work on the lane is going in the comments section. Sounds like things are headed in the right direction. The 91st annual Christmas Tree Lane lighting, which is scheduled for this Saturday, could be canceled or delayed because of issues due to the recent wind storms, according to Elizabeth Nelson of the Christmas Tree Lane Association. Nelson said the group wants to make a decision on Wednesday whether the ceremony can be done on Saturday as planned or not.
