I suppose I am an anomalous Altadenan.  I don’t hike (though I would like to, as long as it’s not too far), I dislike walking my dogs (they are too slow), I don’t grow my own vegetables (though my weeds do quite well), and I don’t really do any of the interesting things that so many other Altadenans can write about.

I do play horn in Crown City Symphony, which rehearses in Altadena, and I sit on Session at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.  When the Rose Parade rolls around, I and 35 volunteers feed and seat 635 paying guests and volunteers at PPC. 

I reared four kids in Altadena.  All four have turned out reasonably well, and, by virtue of living in an integrated community and going to public schools, have been very well prepared for adult life in a multicultural world.

I’ve lived in Altadena more than 20 years, and more than a decade in Pasadena before that.  Having lived all my previous years in the City of Los Angeles, I am and always will be an Angeleno.  But Altadena’s pretty cool, too.
