Musson, Middleton Win Altadena Town Council Seats

With all votes tallied current Town Council member Greg Middleton was elected to his census tract's seat and Brent Musson took the other.

With all votes counted, Brent Musson and Gregory Middleton were elected to the Altadena Town Council in the only two contested races in Saturday's election.

Musson is a local construction consultant, and noted he serves on the Town Council's Land Use Committee as well as an advisory committee to the Altadena Sheriff's Station.  He won in the 4610 census tract, which is in the southwest of Altadena, and runs from the west border to Fair Oaks east to west and from Ventura to just south of Woodbury.

Middleton, an Altadena Patch columnist with a real estate background, is an incumbent on the council.  He won in the 4602 census tract, which runs from Fair Oaks to Lake west to east, and Mariposa to the north city boundary south to north.

Middleton won 56 votes to 36 for his opponent Rebecca Haussling, and Musson won with 87 votes, compared to 42 for his opponent Gail Casburn.

In total, 353 people voted in the election.  Candidates in the other races, which were uncontested, received the following vote counts and will take Town Council seats:

  • Doug Colliflower, census tract 4603.01 - 13 votes
  • Ken Roberts, census tract 4603.02 - 10 votes
  • Amy Cienfuegos, census tract 4611 - 26 votes
  • Jamie Bissner, census tract 4612 - 32 votes
  • Lorie Judson, census tract 4613 - 7 votes

Tim Rutt over at the Altadenablog writes that the turnout was especially light this year, noting that more than 700 people turned out in 2010 and 2008, and almost 500 turned out in 2009,.
