Photo Gallery: Art on Palm Displays Works by Local Artists and Artisans

Oak trees, art, and fair May weather lend a Renaissance air to the semiannual art show and sale

It would be hard to find a setting more “Altadena” than the grounds of the rustic Valentine Cottage, nestled in oak woodland at the end of a nearly hidden road in a canyon known as Wildwood Park.  It’s the perfect place for the semi-annual arts and crafts show known as Art on Palm, which held its spring show last Saturday.

Strolling through the displays by artists and artisans, many of them local to Altadena, is an enchanting way to spend a May morning.   Jewelry, ceramics, paintings, sculpture, textiles, and photography are available for sale or just to delight the eye.

The best way to explore an art show is visually, so check out the slide show to the right. Captions identify the artists—there are sure to be some Altadena locals readers know from the , , or .

The show benefits the non-profit Fisher House Foundation, which provides humanitarian support for wounded military personnel and their families. The artists donate a portion of their sales to the foundation.

Readers who missed Saturday’s show can look forward to the next one in the fall. Meanwhile, enjoy the pictures!

And for readers who are more into secluded canyons than art shows, Valentine Cottage is available to rent for short getaways.  Information is on the Art on Palm website.
