Update: No Outages in Altadena, says SoCal Edison

But more than 5,000 SoCal Edison customers are still without power throughout the utility's coverage area.

Updated 11:30 a.m. Saturday: There are no power outages to report in Altadena, though there are still 5,072 customers still without power systemwide, said Scott Andreson of SoCal Edison on Saturday. The utility warns customers to stay away from downed wires and urges people to call 9-1-1 with an "electrical emergency."

Updated 5 p.m: There are now 372 people without power in Altadena, and more than 12,800 customers throughout Southern California, according to Scott Andresen of SoCal Edison.  Afternoon winds have resulted in the uptick in outages, he said.

Updated 12 p.m: Altadena is now down to 218 outages, according to Edison spokesman Paul Klein.

Updated: Scott Andresen of SoCal Edison says it is actually 876 customers in Altadena who are without power, and about 6,600 countywide.

Original: In Altadena, 676 people are without power as of 7:30 a.m. on Friday, according to Southern California Edison.

A tweet issued by the media relations account of the utility provided the number and said there is no cause or restoration time currently.  Last night the utility said there were near 14,000 people without power countywide, though Altadena was not listed among the towns that were worst hit.

The utility's outage map lists outages centered around three areas: Lake Avenue around Farnsworth Park, near the intersection of Glenrose and Palm, and on Arroyo in West Altadena.

We have a call into Edison and will provide more information as it comes.

Very little wind if any last night or early this morning (thursday night/friday morning). I was outside around 9pm Thursday..walked up the street to investigate a car alarm malfunction. Virtually no wind at that time. I live in Pasadena, one block from Altadena near Allen St.

We lost power on W. Las Flores Drive around 5:00 am. I phoned SCE and they said that their records said that there were 2900 w/o power, but that they projected it to be back on by 7:30 am -- and like clockwork, it was back on just about that time. The winds kicked up about 12:30 am and kept on until about 8:45 am.

Really bad wind overnight and into this morning (until about 9 a.m.) on the west side. We lost power for a few minutes around 7:45 a.m., but it must have gone out for a longer period earlier because my stove clock was off by more than an hour.

I'm at Altadena and Casitas. Big winds overnight and this morning. Power kept flickering. La Vina has had intermittent outages as well.
